Teas, Tinctures, and Salves – Saturday, April 14th – 2-4 pm

This Saturday, April 14th from 2-4 pm, the Downtown Sydney Farmers Market and the Community Health Board’s Communities in Motion and Healthy Eating Fund present the second workshop in our Sustainable Saturday Series:

Teas, Tinctures and Salves
This workshop will introduce folks to the wonders and simplicity of preparing their own herbal medicines. We will make tinctures and salves, and discuss a few other common preparations that are useful to have around in your herbal first aid kit. A very practical introduction to the magic of plant medicine!

The workshop will be held in the community room at the Sobeys on Prince Street, and is FREE! However, space is limited and we do ask that you register in advance. Call (902) 929 2010 or email to save your spot!

New table fees, effective immediately!

And no, they’re not increasing! Now that we are outside, our expenses are minimal, and we want our producers to keep as many of their hard-earned coins as possible – every little bit helps. So we have decided to lower our fees from $15 to just $5/week.

If this change makes it more feasible for you or someone you know to join the market, we’d love to hear from you. Please visit our For Vendors page for more information.

Sustainability Series – Rain Barrel Workshop

This Saturday, July 9, 2011, Demmarest Haney will be presenting information on how to set up and use rain water collection. Why have city water infrastructure, or your own well pump infrastructure have to be involved in watering your garden? You could cut down your ground water and related electricity usage by using rainwater. Demmarest will be doing a hands on demonstration about construction and use of rain barrels. Come out early for the market, 1pm to 4pm on Saturday in the Aliant parking lot, at the corner of George and Pitt downtown!
